Self confidence
Self confidence and self-esteem are the keys to success.
In the March 17 edition of Caterer and Hotelkeeper, Sarah Brewster, a director of Stonehouse Court Hotel in Stroud produced an article entitled “ Put your staff first and they will repay you“.
In it she gave some excellent, practical examples of how she brings her team together including, for example, creating a staff WhatsApp group.
I was particularly drawn by one particular piece where she wrote;
“It’s that sense of ensuring your staff are at the forefront of your priority of needs and showing them value to build up their self-esteem and self-confidence, which they will return with commitment and loyalty.“
This is the sentiment which is the foundation for a coaching program called “Magic“, which my team and I have shared with over 30,000 delegates in the UK, Germany and Ireland.
it was created to address the sad reality that for many people in the hospitality industry, they see their occupations as unrewarding, repetitive and lowly paid.
However, the focus in the Magic program on building self-esteem and self-confidence, not just in their jobs but in their lives, transformed their vision of themselves and gave them the impetus to be creative and to strive for excellence.
In 2016, “Magic“ was published as a 300 page book, designed to help owners and managers in the catering and retail industries transform their customer service.
This year, I have founded a new service called “Restaurant Guru“, which offers restaurant owners a five stage program to transform their business into a successful, profitable, must go to destination.
